Waverley on the South Coast

Dateline 10 September 2000

I am Project Director for TeamSpirIT, one of the 12 yachts taking part in the BT Global Challenge which started last Sunday from Southampton.   I had chartered Waverley for the start of the BT Global Challenge nearly 3 years ago because of previous good experiences of her as a viewing platform and hospitality vessel for corporate days.  When I got concerned about the delays over the re-build, I could see me looking in vain for somewhere else to put 400 people on the water at a time when everything had long been booked.   Your excellent site reassured me that things were moving at a rapid pace, and that the finished result would be worth waiting for.  This proved entirely to be the case.  My corporate guests were bowled over by how good she looked, and for the first time ever I had a guest compliment the ship on the pristine state of the Ladies' Loos! - not usually a strong point on ANY ship.

This picture was taken by Mark Pepper of MarinePics showing Waverley in the middle of the spectator fleet, dressed out in our corporate banners.   Our yacht, incidentally, appears in the top left hand corner in the distance, flying a distinctive red and white spinnaker.
