PADDLE STEAMER WAVERLEY: HERITAGE REBUILD: COMPLETION PHASE

Work underway to strip the running gear from the starboard paddle wheel. Segment of paddle fascia board removed to allow access. Jenny Nettle with one radius rod still attached is removed ashore.

Timber decking removed around Purser’s Office. Fixing studs still to be removed and steel deck aqua blasted.

View from inside Wheelhouse. All equipment stripped and moved ashore for safe storage.

Port side promenade deck, timber decking removed.

Compartments completed in the first phase rebuild are protected from disturbance with timber sheeting. Dining saloon, shop front and main staircase protected in this view.

Jeannie Deans Lounge. Fixed seating, tables and ship’s side linings stripped out and ready for weighing and moving ashore.

Crankshaft being prepared for removal ashore for the second time in 55 years. Connecting rods and eccentric rods disconnected. Main bearings still to remove.
