PADDLE STEAMER WAVERLEY: HERITAGE REBUILD: COMPLETION PHASE.
As at 19 December 2002, progress was satisfactory. Waverley is due to leave the pontoon at the end of January with all steelwork complete. 70 people were currently employed rebuilding the ship, including 32 steelworkers in 2 shifts. The total workforce would be increased to 90 following re-floating. Heritage Lottery Fund monitoring and Marine and Coastguard Agency surveys were satisfactory.
