Paddle Steamer Waverley

Heritage Rebuild

The Completion Phase

Waverley to be Lifted

Waverley’s dry-docking will not be conventional, she will be lifted out of the water on a submersible barge for a seven week period so that blasting, hull inspection, resultant steel renewals and internal steelwork repairs and modifications can be carried out. The lifting barge, the AMT Wayfarer left Southern France on Friday 8 November and is due in Great Yarmouth around Wednesday 13 November. Two days of barge preparation are required to attach the blocks and guide posts. The barge is too wide to berth alongside at GPE’s facility, so will be berthed down river at the Ocean Berth for the duration of the works. Waverley will be moved down river and then undergo the four hour lifting operation by which time the barge will have raised her some 14 feet. Watch this space for further information on the actual lift date.

The event will be captured on time-lapse digital images in a format which will download from the new Web-Cam site when it is operational. Again, watch this space for further updates.
